Financial Friday - How to Start Couponing

I’m not gonna lie – Couponing can be daunting and overwhelming. Where to start, what to do, what to buy, what stores to stop at. Hopefully this can help motivate you to start couponing and/or keep couponing.

Collect Coupons – There are tons of resources available to help you collect coupons. You can find coupons in the Sunday newspaper, tons of websites for printable coupons, some stores/restaurants have coupons you can store on your cell phone, family & friends, grocery store aisles, Facebook, magazines. These days, coupons are EVERYWHERE!

Allocate Time – Give yourself time to research deals and organize your coupons. If you are concerned about time, don’t stress out! Figure out how much time is doable for you and stick to it. Even just 20 minutes a day will save you way more money than 0 minutes.

Be Patient – Don’t be overzealous. You will get burned out. Couponing has it’s frustrations, so just be patient and keep at it. Once you see that receipt and it shows how much you’ve saved, you will tell yourself the savings far outweigh the frustrations.

Ask Questions – Don’t be afraid to be wrong – that’s how you learn! When I first started couponing, I figured things out by trial and error. And I’m not gonna lie – it was embarrassing! But I asked people around me, asked other couponers, did some research, I even asked cashiers (which 99.99% of the time, they don’t know much about coupons).

If At First You Don’t Succeed…Try Try Again – ‘nuf said!
