Staples 15% off coupon

HOT DOG!!

Staples just issued a 15% off any in store purchase coupon (excludes some things of course)

All I can say is...the Lord shall provide.

We have been wanting a laser printer. Well, we started looking up deals online, deciding what we wanted...then my dad just up and said "hey do you guys need a laser printer? You can have our extra one." We didn't even mention we were looking for one. Then we plugged it in and got it working and the toner is real low. Toner is SO expensive. Well, now we can save a little with this new 15% coupon. God is good!

JoAnn Fabrics - 50% off coupon

Every time I find coupons like this, I like to print them out and give them to my Grandma. She loves them!! (She doesn't do the whole computer thing) :)

$.40 Wrapping Paper at BigLots!

Here is what I got with my 20% off BigLots coupon.

My mom and I made a trip to BigLots on our way home from a family get together. They had their Christmas stuff on sale 75% off. If you notice, the rolls of paper say "Garden Ridge $3.99." WOAH!

Garden Ridge price - $3.99
BigLots price - $2.00
75% off sale - $.50

Then I used my 20% off coupon to get each one for $.40.

So...had I bought these at Garden Ridge (which I'm assuming this is where these came from) I would have paid $3.99. So I saved 90% off retail price!

I love buying out of season!

My Weight Loss Goal

OK, I’m going to go ahead and verbalize a goal of mine. Because they say you are more likely to achieve your goal if you tell someone or write it down. So I’m doing this to help keep myself accountable.

I would like to lose 50 pounds. And honestly, I don’t know if I have 50 pounds to lose, but I am going to try it. I am decreasing my calories, exercising, but I am also lifting weights so I’ll lose inches but more than likely the scale won’t read I’ve lost as many “pounds” as I would like to see. But I will be able to tell with how my clothes fit.

I have set some small goals with small rewards to help me achieve this. After all it’s a marathon, not a sprint. This is not just about losing weight but living a better, healthier lifestyle.

I started last week, so I have already been doing this for one week.

Goal #1: No sugar, More water/Less caffeine, Work out 2 hours a week, Eat more fish.
No sugar is going to be hard for me. Over the last week I’ve been doing this, I’ve started to notice how much sugar I intake, from sugary cereal, little candies, desserts, Sonic drinks, etc. I’ve been eating fruits as my dessert, or chewing flavorful gum! I don’t drink regular cokes, I drink diet, however I bought some caffeine free, diet Dr. Pepper and have been drinking that, and also water with flavor packets. I borrowed my parents’ stationary bike and have been doing 30 min a day. I am NOT a huge fish fan, however I have made a goal of eating fish at least once a week, 1 meal. Believe me, that’s a struggle for me.

FYI: I absolutely HATE running in the cold weather. I’m a singer and always have a hard time with my tonsils when I would run outside then come inside to a cold house. I’d have to go to the doctor, take some pills, etc. I was miserable. Therefore…I HATE running in the cold weather.

Goal #2: Lose 2 pounds per week – VERY DOABLE!!
By doing all those things in goal #1, I should be able to lose 2 pounds per week. 2 pounds per week is a very healthy, steady weight loss goal. Anything more I might risk putting weight back on after I’ve lost it, anything less I’m probably not working as hard as I should.

Goal #3: Lose 10 pounds by Saturday, February 13th
Week 1: 1/10-1/16 – DONE – lost 2 pounds
Week 2: 1/17-1/23 –
Week 3: 1/24-1/30 –
Week 4: 1/31-2/6 –
Week 5: 2/7-2/13 –
REWARD – Manicure/Pedicure
**I need a pedi right now, so the harder I work the faster I can get the pedi. That is motivating me to lose 10 pounds faster!**

**Goal #4: Lose 20 pounds by Saturday, March 20th** BIG GOAL!!!
REWARD – Massage

Goal #5: Lose 30 pounds by Saturday, April 24th
REWARD – TBD

Goal #6: Lose 40 pounds by Saturday, May 22nd
REWARD – TBD

Goal #7: Lose 50 pounds by Saturday, July 3rd

REWARD – TBD
**I’m thinking a new wardrobe!!**

Like I said, I really don’t know if I have 50 pounds to lose. We shall see. And I will be editing this every week or so.

SO HELP KEEP ME ACCOUNTABLE!!!

*KILLER* Crazy Meal Deal at Kroger

I don't really participate in the meal deals at Kroger because normally I can get all that stuff for cheaper than they are selling it for. BUT this week I took part because it was just too good to pass up.

Buy any (3) Kelloggs Cereals (Selected Varieties), Nutri-Grain Bars 8ct,
Special-K Bars 6ct - 3/$7
Get FREE:
Kroger Gallon of Milk
Kroger White Bread
Kroger Large Eggs 12 ct Grade A
Tennessee Pride Sausage Gravy 8oz

- $5/4 any Kellogg's Cereal printable HERE
- $1/2 Special K Coupon (1/3 RP)

Here's what I did - I wanted to be able to use both of the coupons I listed above, but the deal is "buy 3." So...I went in halfsies with my mom. I bought 2 crazy meal deals (my store lets you do up to 3 in one transaction). I used both the $5/4 and $1/2 coupon. I paid $7.59 for everything, so ~$3.80 each. Not bad! So I basically got 2 meal deals for the price of one.

I would highly recommend doing it this way. You get more bang for your buck. And if you're someone like me who can't use up all that food before it goes bad, then do it like I did and go halfsies with someone.

2009 Total Savings/Earnings - $8550.72

Well, I have officially had a full year of couponing!!

I started October 2008. Once I saw some of the things I could do, in January 2009, I started a tally of all my savings, including rebates, online surveys, couponing, etc.

Here are my totals for 2009:

Savings - $8207.28
**This number includes my savings shown on the bottom of my receipts-coupons from the newspaper inserts, printables, coupons I asked for from different stores, Passbook coupons, money I found on the ground, and any giftcards I won or received. Obviously, if I paid for the GCs myself, that’s not really saving.
***This number DOES NOT include savings from gas. I got $.10 per gallon at Kroger throughout the year, and did not include that in my totals.

Surveys - $9.33
**I could have been paid a TON more money than this, however I just didn’t have the time to do surveys. Oh well, $9.33 more than I did have!

Rebates - $1480.86 -- $334.11
**This number includes manufacturer rebates, Walgreens EasySaver rebates and (2) $500 giftcards I won. I included the $1,000 worth of GCs to my savings, because I paid bills, bought groceries, etc with the GCs. I also requested my WAGS rebates in giftcard format ($146.75 worth), so those are also reflected in my "savings" tally. So for simplicity sake, my rebates only totaled $334.11 ($1480.86 - $1000 - $146.75).

These rebate are awesome! Not only can I use coupons to get my out of pocket expense as low as possible, but I can submit a rebate to make a profit! Here are a few examples of those:

1-12-09 - When the EasySaver was still going, there were times I could "double dip." On this trip I was able to get the EasySaver WAGS Rebate and $8.00 Orajel & $4.00 Windex rebate.

3-14-09 – Not only was I able to get 4 FREE boxes of Cereal, I got a $7.00 RR at WAGS and got a $1.00 rebate on each box purchased.

6-20-09 – CVS had the Vitamin Shampoo/Conditioner on sale Buy One Get One Free, and some of them had "Try Me Free" stickers. So after the rebate, I was able to get 2 free hair products.

6-23-09 – Just like CVS with the Vitamin hair product, Walgreens had Organix S/C on sale BOGO Free with "Try Me Free" stickers. I got 2 for FREE.

7-14-09 – Kellogg’s $10 Fuel for School - nothing like free cereal

10-27-09 – I profited $3.24 on Ziploc bags with this SC Johnson Rebate

10-29-09 – Kroger had a huge Mega Event, where Tombstone Pizza was included. Plus I had MFQs. I was able to profit $7.38 after all was said and done.

11-24-09 – I was able to profit HUGE with the new Kraft Rebate from buying 10 boxes of Wheat Thins.
********************************
Grand Total Savings/Earnings - $8207.28 + $9.33 + $334.11 = $8550.72

Eat from the Pantry Challenge

Several bloggers have started an Eat from the Pantry Challenge for the month of January. I was just thinking I needed to do this - then I came across this blog entry. What a coincidence!

As you know, Brian and I are trying to save up for a house (HERE). That is one of our 2010 goals! One of the ways we plan to do this is to eat from the pantry during January, and only buy the staples that we need like milk, cheese, fruit, etc. I think we can manage it. I will have to get creative, but I'm up for the challenge.

By doing this, we can save the money that we would spend to go towards saving for the house. We do have quite a stockpile and can live off of that for a while, so if we do this for several months, we can save quite a bit of money.

With that being said, we are also going to try to not eat out this month. This is SUPER hard for us to do because I come from a family that eats out ALL the time, and we don't have any kids, so it's easy for us to want to go out on "dates."

So if you have been stockpiling for a while, and have some food you need to use up, DO IT! You will be able to save a lot of money this month.
