Forget Kroger!! Not only are their prices getting ridiculous and sales lacking, their gas promotion is a little outrageous. Spend $100 to save $.10 on gas? No way!! It's just a ploy to get people to spend more money at their stores!
Today, Wal-Mart announced a 90-day "rollback" on gas at participating Murphy USA and Wal-Mart gas stations. Save $.10 per gallon on all fuel when you use a reloadable Wal-Mart giftcard, reloadable Walmart MoneyCard® or Walmart credit card from June 29 through September 30, 2011. Go HERE for more details.
While you can save $.10 per gallon at Wal-Mart, let me put everything out on the table, and you can make your own decision.
The Murphy USA near me is $3.35 per gallon for unleaded.
For 15 Gallons of Gas @ $3.35...
@ Wal-Mart - $.10 off = $48.75 (Save $1.50)
BUT - if you have a Credit Card that offers 5% cash back on Gas, like Chase and/or Discover, using your CC would be a better deal.
For 15 Gallons of Gas @ $3.35...
With your CC = $50.25 x 5% (Get $2.51 cash back)
My Discover Card has a cap of $300 in purchases, so we will be using our Discover until $300, then we might switch to the Wal-Mart deal. Sounds like a hassle, but we'll do anything to save a buck here or there :)
